Time to break even Borrowing cheaper Borrowing dearer

APR is the US standardised measure of borrowing cost, and by law it has to include most fees, which is why a loan with the same interest rate but a large origination fee has a higher APR. It is not the same as the APY used for savings, which excludes fees because there are none. The score bands below are typical 2026 ranges for a US applicant, not a quote, and lenders price in far more than the score.

What Is APR Calculator?

The APR Calculator finds the annual percentage rate a loan really costs once fees are included, rather than the headline interest rate the lender advertises. It also estimates a likely rate from a credit score and a band of US credit scores, so you can see roughly where you sit.

Who Uses the APR Calculator?

Borrowers use it to compare two offers that quote the same interest rate but different fees, which is exactly the comparison a headline rate hides. People shopping around also use the score view to see whether their credit is costing them more than it should.

How to Use the APR Calculator

  1. Enter the amount, term, the rate offered, and any fees.
  2. Read the true APR and how many points the fees added.
  3. Use the break-even table to see when a cheaper rate elsewhere would have paid for the fees.

Why Choose Our APR Calculator?

  • True APR including origination and setup fees
  • Break-even table against a cheaper rate elsewhere
  • Rate estimates by score band and loan type
  • Works out which band a score falls into
