Pixel Art Maker

Turn any image into pixel art by snapping it to a grid and reducing it to a fixed palette. Outputs a PNG and a matching CSS pixel-art look.

Drop an image, or click to choose one. Portraits and sprites convert best.

How it works

The image is snapped to a grid: every block of N×N pixels collapses to its top-left pixel's colour, which is what gives the hard-edged look. Those colours are then reduced to the number you picked using median-cut quantisation, which splits the colour range where the image actually varies instead of using a fixed grid.

The result is displayed with image-rendering: pixelated so the preview stays sharp. Without that, browsers smooth the pixels and the whole effect disappears.

What Is Pixel Art Maker?

The Pixel Art Maker converts any image into genuine pixel art: it shrinks the picture to a block grid, caps the palette to as few as four colors, and offers saturation and contrast tuning. A live palette strip, grid readout, and before-and-after view keep every choice visible.

Who Uses the Pixel Art Maker?

Game developers, streamers, and retro-art fans use it for sprites, emotes, avatars, and thumbnails.

How to Use the Pixel Art Maker

  1. Upload an image.
  2. Set the block size to control how chunky the pixels get.
  3. Cap the palette and tune saturation and contrast.
  4. Review the palette strip and download the pixel art.

Why Choose Our Pixel Art Maker?
